Selling often has a bad reputation amongst us Filipinos. We think that it is something that people do when they no longer have a more viable choice for livelihood. Some students even think that selling is such a difficult way to earn a living. There are even individuals who think that Sales people are CON artist. Many negative connotations have been given to this profession and it is as if a dreaded disease in the social areas that I have been exposed to.
From a business point of view, selling is the primary engine that keeps a business running. With it, manufacturers can make products, industries expand and services are contracted. If selling were to end, then the business sector will come to a miserable close.
From a professional point of view, selling is a very rewarding profession. I have met some very successful sales people and have an idea on their incomes and I can tell you that it is financial rewarding and way, way greater than an office clerk. Heck, I know of a Sales Manager of a respected Insurance Company that earns 6 digits every month. Sales people are the very prime movers of businesses.
A good definition of a Sale was brought to my attention when I was in Business School. "A Sale is not a Sale unless the Cash is in your hands." This has been an important principle with our day to day business. Cash is definitely KING and when it is in your hands, you are in HEAVEN.
Our rising generation must realize that Selling is a SKILL and is an ART. It can be developed and honed to perfection. When practiced, it can lead to a brighter future, not only in professions but also in creating your own business. Even the famous writer, Robert Kiyosaki insist that his book "Rich Dad,Poor Dad" is a best-selling book rather than a best-written book, after he was criticized on how the book was written.
For those aspiring Entrepreneurs, Selling becomes an imperative skill. You must, need to Sell so as to take your business off the ground and into the skies!
